Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation - Revenue

    This department is headed by an Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) assisted by four Assistant Revenue Officers and Bill Collectors . Property Tax is one of the main sources of income of the Corporation. There are 221,845 assessments and the annual property tax demand is Rs.4,104.79 Lakhs. 85 to 90% of the demand is being collected every year. There are several other non-tax items covering rent from Kalyanamandapams, Kalaiyarangams, Markets, Daily markets, Bus- stand, Cycle stand and parking fees amounting to about 85.00 Lakhs. Other than this the Corporation is getting revenue from Profession tax, advertisement tax and duty on transfer of property and various trade license fees. Preparation of demand, collection and balance (DCB) statement for different tax and non tax items is one of the main activities of this department. This department also supervises the assessment of new buildings and revision of old assessments. The property tax Assessment above the annual income of Rs.30,000 will be - by the Assistant Commissioners, - the amount - of Rs.30,000 to 55,000 will be by the Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) and - the amount - of Rs.55,000 will be - by the Commissioner.

    There is one Taxation Appeal Tribunal headed by an Hon'ble Sub Judge to hear appeals regarding property tax assessment cases.
