Thiru R. Venkatachalam was born in the year 1941. His father name is Late Thiru V.K.Ruthrmoorthy Pillai and mother name is Mrs.Kamalammal. He is blessed with life partner Tmt. Renuka, two daughters named Tmt. R.Gayathiri Raj Murali, Tmt.G.Anuradha Gunaseelan and son Selvan V.Karthikeyan.

          He joined in T.V.S.Organisation on 2-11-63, confirmed in that post on 2.11.64. Besides this job he was also actived in Public Works and Political works. But on 31-12-98 he came out of the organization on voluntary retirement having in mind to serve the public in full time. From the year 1998 onwards he has devoted to serve the society in full time.

          He was elected as Secretary, District Congress Committee in the year 1971 and as Ward Member in Eighth Ward in Sanganoor Town Pancyat in the year 1972.

          In the year 1996 he was elected as Councillor of Ward No.62 in Coimbatore Corporation on behalf of All India Congress Party. In the year 1996, out of Local Body election conducted in 6 Corporations he was the only member elected on behalf of Congress Party in entire Tamil Nadu. During the year 1996 to 2001 he has acted as President of Congress Party in Coimbatore Corporation Council. In the year 2001 he contested in the local body election and won in ward 62 with vast difference in votes against his opponent and worked as Congress Party President in Coimbatore Corporation. In the year 2006 since ward 62 was declared and earmarked for "Ladies" he contested in ward 63 and won the election.

          His hard work, fruitless effort and the service to the public paves the way for his Victory and Achievements of his life.

          He is a staunch supporter of Thiru R.Prabhu, M.P. Nilgiris Constituency.

          He is being elected as "Mayor" of Coimbatore Corporation on behalf of Congress Party in the year 2006 and still continuing yeomen service to the Corporation and general public as a whole.
