Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation - Rainwater Harvesting

    In consonance with the orders of the Government of Tamilnadu the Coimbatore Corporation has taken and continues to take effective steps in implementation of rain water harvesting methods in all spheres with a view to avoiding depletion of ground water level and also as a measure of recharging ground water through rain water harvesting. The Coimbatore Corporation Council in its resolution No.79 dated: 20.6.2000 has resolved to adopt the rain water harvesting measures in the buildings belonging to the corporation and has also chosen to impose a condition while issuing building licenses to carryout rain water harvesting measures. The council has also resolved to instruct the entire corporation licensed building surveyors to carryout the proposals of the rainwater harvesting measures while planning and executing the constructions. Accordingly in a separate meeting conducted for this purpose all the licensed building surveyors were instructed to carryout Rain Water harvesting measures in the plan and to incorporate design and specification of the proposal also in the plan.
